Game There is a minimum 4 gamebird package release per
day. Ten bird minimum release per package. Minimum of 4 birds per
species you wish to hunt. No bag limit on any species you hunt for that
day. You pay only for birds released. The most popular package which
allows you unlimited shooting of all the species is a mixed bag of: 4
Rooster pheasant, 4 chukar/hungarian partridge, 4 bobwhite/valley quail.
All bird packages regardless of species are $475.00 per hunter per whole
day. You must declare what species you are hunting . We hunt Roosters
only, except for the Scottish Castle shoot & the special “field hen”
release. You may make up any combination you desire. The list below
shows prices for extra birds.
Extra birds Ringnecked Pheasants: $24.00 ea.
Hen Pheasants: $14.00 ea. Chukar and Hungarian Partridge $18.00 ea.
Bobwhite and Valley Quail $9.00 ea.
Free Lodging There are no lodging fees Sept. 1
through March 31st. No matter how many people attend, there is no charge
for use of the lodge, whether you are a day hunter or overnighter.
Check-in 4 p.m. Check-out 12 noon , SHARP. Please organize your time
accordingly so that we may begin cleaning the lodge and birdroom by
noon. Day hunters may check in before daylight the day of your hunt, but
must be checked out by 4 pm.
Summer rates April thru August Sunday night
through Thurs. night $175 per night for the first 4 adults. Friday and
Saturday nights $225.00 ea. for the first 4 adults. $30.00 per night
each additional adult. An 8% County Lodging Tax will be added.
Deposit A $600 deposit is required a minimum of
60 days prior to hunting date. This includes both day hunts and
overnighters. Because hunting/vacation trips require coordination and
preparation, all deposits are non-refundable.
Intense, Furious, Fun ! High Flying Scottish Castle
Shoot. A highly recommended activity of a hen pheasant release from the
castle for groups desiring the feel of a driven hunt. You will be
allowed to ‘hunt up’ the unshot hens that afternoon only. There is a 75
bird minimum. Reservations required. Pumps and semi-autos ARE allowed
for this event only.
50 Hen Field Release New in 2006 was a
Hen release in the fields that allows you to shoot any pheasant that
flies all that
day plus the day of your “clean-up” hunt. This was enthusiastically
received by all the hunters that tried it and it keeps within our
management goals. So, we are offering it again this year.
Single party privacy Great Expectations is 556 acres. While you
stay with us there will be no hunters allowed other than those in your party. Free trout
fishing, limited to 2 per person per day.
Hunting Season Hunting season runs September 1st through March 31st. Hunting
without a dog not recommended. You may bring your own dog or a guide and dog are available
at the preserve. Hunting license required. State non-resident permit is $10.50 per year,
available here at the preserve. Oregon residents must have hunting license and upland bird
stamp or a preserve permit is available here for $4.50. River
rafting/fishing April through August. Free trout fishing on our pond,
limited to 2 per person per day. Firearms Only break
open guns are allowed for hunting. Semi- auto, pump action and bolt
actions will not be permitted in the hunting fields. STRICTLY ENFORCED!
Blaze orange and eye protection are MANDATORY for all hunters. We will
furnish you with a vest if you have no orange.
Sporting Clays Sporting clays open year around. We have a single party
privacy operation on the preserve with exception to the clays course. Minimum
4 shooters.
$35 per round through our 6 trap 15 station, 75 target wireless remote control clays
course. Designed by ten time U.S. National Champion, Dan Carlisle, the course consists of
Honker Hill, a five-station Hunters Clay range, and the Merkel Challenge, a 10 station
sporting clays course. Pumps and semi- autos are allowed for this event.
Our policy on dogs It is important to remember that
a LOT of dogs visit us annually and if we are to maintain a clean and
healthy environment for you and your dogs we need your cooperation. Free
access kennels are located below the barn with a dog house, running
water, lights, covered roof and 5'x30' graveled runs. We also have 7
outdoor kennels next to the birdroom. If you prefer to keep your dog
closer to you, you may board them in one of the built in houses or your
own kennel in the Gun Room in the lodge for a fee of $10 per day. Dogs
MUST be kept in one of the "houses" or your kennel when owner not
present and not left loose in the Gun Room. A dog in the Gun Room at any
time will be assessed the $10.00 fee. Any evidence of a dog in the lodge
or front yard is subject to $100 fee per occurrence.
Guide Service You may use your own dog - or a dog and
guide are available at $125.00 for 1/2 day, $175.00 full day for one
gun. $125.00 ea. for multiple hunters full day. $75.00 ea. for multiple
hunters 1/2 day.
Bird Cleaning- Pheasants, Chukar and Huns $2.50 ea. Quail
$1.50 ea. Filleted breasts and legs labeled in a zip lock freezer bag.
Please give us advance notice if you'd like the cleaning service. We may
require that you have your birds cleaned for you if hunters leave an
excessive mess in the bird room. We reserve this right.
